3/16/2023 0 Comments Civilization 6 wondersThing is, this is an example of a drafting game. Every age, players play one of the cards in their hand. Once your table looks something like this, you’re ready to move on to Gameplay:Īt its core, 7 Wonders should be a simple game. DO NOT LOOK AT THE CARDS, YET. You’ll start with Age I, but you won’t look at Age II or III until Age I is over. If not, you messed up). You can set Ages II and III aside, but typically we just deal out 7 cards of each age to each player and they keep Ages II and III with them, so we don’t have to shuffle and deal again. Now that that’s settled, shuffle each of the three piles and deal 7 cards from Age I to each player (note that this should exhaust the Age I pile. There are only a specific number of guilds allowed per game, so shuffle them, take (number of players + 2) guilds, and add them to the Age III pile. These, as you might note from the names, are all different types of guilds. Additionally, you may notice purple-front cards in Age III, like so: If you’re playing with 4 players, for instance, you remove all the 5+, 6+, and 7+ cards from the game, since those are for larger groups. Each of the cards has a number (such as 3+, 4+, 5+, or 6+) on the bottom indicating how many players that card supports. There are three sets of cards in three different colors (brown, blue, and purple), and these are the cards that comprise the three different ages of the game. Everyone starts with three coins (unless otherwise stated), so pass those out. Set them aside such that everyone can reach them. They’re worth 1, 3, or 5 points, depending on when you acquire them. Set them somewhere such that everyone can reach them. These are Military Defeat tokens, and they’re worth -1 point. There should be three types of tokens in your game box. If you see these, don’t necessarily use them in your first game. These are all from a variety of different expansions, so they will get covered in later blog posts. You might notice that some people’s copies of 7 Wonders have alternate Wonder boards, such as: We’ll briefly ignore the symbols and touch back on them later. In either case, if it’s your first game you should start with Side A. They’re slightly different and Wonder-dependent, but you should all pick the same side for the game. For the game, each Wonder board has two sides. There are also cards that come with them so that you can shuffle the cards and deal one to each player, rather than shuffling the Wonder boards (which is hard). You should start with a bunch of Wonder boards that look like this: You’ll notice a bunch of things inside of the box, and I’ll briefly explain each. That way, you can make builders while working on Space Race projects.Alright, this is gonna be a bit of a doozy, so bear with me. This technique is a substantial boost to the late game, but make sure that your Government Plaza is in another city, away from your Spaceports. A lot can happen during this late-game period, and therefore having a robust safety net is essential.Īdditionally, if you build a tier-three Government Plaza, you can make builders assist Spaceport projects. Make sure you build these Spaceports in high production cities. Second, to decrease the risk of disasters (captured city, sabotage, natural disasters). In the last Space Race project, you can have all of your Spaceports working on lasers to speed up your spacecraft. There are five steps to complete the Space Race, which is how one wins a science victory. There are two reasons why you want more than one Spaceport.įirst, it increases the speed at which you finish Space Race tasks. Two Spaceports may seem excessive, but it's an excellent strategy.
